Historické a súčasné zmeny krajinnej diverzity a biodiverzity vplyvom pôsobenia prírodných a antropogénnych faktorov
Historical and present changes in the landscape diversity and biodiversity caused by natural and anthropogenic factors
Program: VEGA
Project leader: RNDr. Barančok Peter, CSc.
Annotation: In the natural environment, there are constantly running processes that affect the character of the landscape or intensity of natural environmental factors and form the overall state of the environment. These processes naturally influence and change landscape diversity and biodiversity. Man intervenes into these natural procsses in a significant way and anthropogenic impacts on the landscape and biodiversity nowadays outweigh the impacts resulting from the natural development of the areas. The project focuses on the assessment of landscape and biodiversity changes in selected areas affected by the effects of natural and anthropogenic stress factors in a different time periods. Attention will be paid to the differentiation of landscape diversity and biodiversity changes that were caused by the natural development of the landscape, global factors impact and the influence of man in the country ? since the first settlement, through changes in the way and intensity of the landscape use.

Zmeny pôdnych vlastností a sekundárna sukcesia po zalesnení bývalých poľnohospodárskych pôd
Changes in soil properties and secondary succession following afforestation of former agricultural land
Program: VEGA
Project leader: Mgr. Kollár Jozef, PhD.
Annotation: The project is focused on the ecology and soils of secondary forests established after land use changes in the various Slovak region differed by natural conditions and land use type. Studied areas will include especially Malé Karpaty Mts (afforested former vineyards and pastures, non-carbonate bedrock) and Považský Inovec Mts. (afforested pastures, carbonate bedrock). The project has an interdisciplinary character. Vegetation part will be focused on the detailed phytocoenological and floristic characteristics of the studied forests, which will serve as a database for other actívities, such as state, progress and direction of secondary succession, ecological and socio-economic evaluation of particular vegetation etc. Soil research will include basic and some special soil properties, which will serve to evaluate the impact of historical and current land use on the soil.
